A story that continues to unfold…
Gasoline was born in 2009 from a deep desire to create a place where art could be experienced as much as it could be admired. First established in a former warehouse in the heart of a small Provençal village, the gallery took its name from a vintage 1930s petrol pump that welcomed visitors to the space.
By displaying “Gasoline Poterie” on its sign, an unexpected dialogue was already emerging between the place, the objects and the creations.
A few years later, Gasoline moved into a new space steeped in history, in that same small village. The gallery grew, its spaces multiplied, and the world of Anne-Laure Humblot continued to unfold between studio, secret garden and creative spaces.
Today, a new chapter is being written in Villecroze, a village recognised among the Villages et Cités de Caractère du Var.
In this light-filled gallery, artworks interact with the architecture, materials and contrasts of the space.
Visitors come to discover an exhibition, choose a creation, take part in a workshop, or simply take their time over a coffee.
Gasoline has become a place where art naturally finds its way into everyday life.
The World of Gasoline
The world of Gasoline is a place where wonder is tinged with shadow, where poetry flirts with the absurd, and where delicacy always conceals a touch of insolence.
Each creation tells a story without ever imposing it.
It leaves everyone free to project their own dreams, memories or questions onto it. Enigmatic faces, birds, handwritten words, winged hearts and graphic symbols form an intimate visual language, nourished by philosophy, spirituality and a touch of elegant mischief.
The aesthetic is deliberately refined. White and black, touches of cobalt blue and carmine red, together with the vibrant glow of gold leaf, are enough to create an instantly recognisable universe.
The lines are bold and spontaneous, with contrasts fully embraced.
In porcelain, the sculptures possess the fragility of confidences.
Suspended on a wall or simply displayed within an interior, they become quiet presences, objects of contemplation that seem to carry within them an ancient story or a secret.
The paintings extend this dialogue through a more instinctive form of expression.
India ink, mixed media, drips, free gestures and expressive calligraphy come together to create compositions where graphic energy meets poetry.
The Gasoline universe moves between light and darkness, gravity and humour, softness and character. It evokes those stories in which imagination reveals reality more truthfully than certainty ever could.
The strange becomes familiar.
Each artwork opens a door to a deeply human elsewhere.
